Attwooll Golden Wedding Celebrated in Boone

Mr and Mrs W J Attwooll marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter in Boone. Grandchildren Elizabeth Ann and Claude McAlpin sang Love's Old Sweet Song while daughter Mrs J A Spencer played Mendelssohn. The couple, married at Town Falls, have two children and four grandchildren. He, 76, and she, 70, reside with their daughter Mrs Ryan.

Butter Industry Dominates Iowa Manufacturing Mix

The Dairy and Food Division reports butter is Iowa second to packing in value, about 84 million dollars in 1927. Thirty eight percent came from 25 northeastern counties served mainly by cooperative creameries. Centralizers produced 88 million pounds, about 45 percent of state output, aided by 2,367 cream stations feeding 68 centralizer creameries.

Tuberculosis and Heart Clinic Set for Eldora Friday

A tuberculosis and heart clinic will visit Eldora on Friday May 18 under the Hardin County Medical Society. Drs J E Reed president and W E Marsh secretary announce the event as a county meeting with specialists in charge from 2 to 4. Patients must apply through their family physician to receive examinations and consultations.

Iowa Falls bachelor ends life after killing dog

Frank Ginn a 60 year old resident of Iowa Falls killed his dog with a strychnine dose on Wednesday night and later hanged himself in his room. The dog died, Ginn died at home, and coroner Wehrman deemed no inquest necessary. Ginn was held at the jail to appear before an insanity commission in Eldora. The Ginn family publishing tie was noted.

Boddy Seeks Republican Nomination for County Supervisor

Ira Boddy announces a bid for the Republican nomination for county supervisor for the next term starting January. A longtime Hardin County farmer and stock feeder, Boddy is noted for integrity, business skill, and active civic involvement. He aims to bring experience and local knowledge to the board. Desperate dynamite plot shocks Reinbeck locals

A car owned by Mrs. Hubert Young of Reinbeck was found with three loaded sticks of dynamite tied to the engine. The Ford was driven by Mrs. J. W. Orr of Waterloo who parked downtown. a fire extinguisher prevented ignition. No caps were attached, likely saving lives of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nelson and their two sons visiting Omaha.

Hunt Griffin Nuptials In Alden Marry At Home

George B. Hunt and Miss Lillian Griffin were wed last evening at the groom’s brother C Hunt’s home. The ceremony, at 7 pm, was officiated by Rev E H Felten of the Lutheran Church in the presence of close relatives. The couple will reside in the Lon Harris house in east town and begin housekeeping soon. Both are well known locally and enter married life with many friends' good wishes.

Town of Alden Burgeoning Waste Notice and Ordinance

Town of Alden warns residents and outsiders not to dump rubbish along river banks alleys or vacant lots. Ordinance CXXIII Sect 60 bans throwing or depositing trash ashes bottles cans and rubbish on streets streams or ditches. Governor recommends cleaning properties and complying with local orders for late May. garbages and sales notices include farm products and hatchery ads.

Secure Liquor Confiscation Case Near Ellora

Federal and state officers seized liquor from a Dodge owned by C. E. Thompson on the Homer Burgess farm east of Ellora. Thompson, charged with illegal transportation of intoxicating liquor, was taken to Waterloo to appear before a federal commissioner. Burgess paid a $1000 fine for illegally transporting and not properly labeling liquor, as the mortgage status of the confiscated car sparked questions about ownership and risk to innocent lienholders.

No Jury Cases In Court At Hardin County Session

The Hardin County district court completed jury trials with no juries on this term as civil actions were adjusted or continued and defendants pleaded guilty or the cases moved to fall session.
