Saintly Pin Causes Des Moines Medical Consult

Blizzard Hits Alden Iowa Strands Traffic and Schools
A powerful blizzard struck Alden Iowa last Monday night, the worst since 1936. By Tuesday morning almost 18 inches of snow covered the ground with drifting winds that blocked roads and halted business. Schools, including rural ones, were closed and several routes were impassable. Cleanup began with plows clearing streets while temperatures stayed above zero and officials forecast warmer weather. The heavy snowfall brings needed moisture after a dry season.
