President Roosevelt sailed to Miami Florida for a fishing cruise after presenting tax and housing reforms to Congress. President Roosevelt sent to the Senate the nomination of Rep Fred M. Vinson of Kentucky to fill a vacancy on the United States court of appeals for the District of Columbia. The post pays 10000 dollars annually, for life with retirement privileges. Vinson, a 47 year old tax expert in his seventh term, lives in Ashland Kentucky. The President also nominated Associate Justice D Lawrence Groner of Virginia to be chief justice, creating another vacancy. Groner will be succeeded by Henry White Edgerton of New York, whose nomination also went to the Senate.

Walters of Idaho Dies

Theodore Walters, assistant secretary of the interior, died of pneumonia at the Naval hospital in Washington after an emergency gall bladder operation. He was sixty one years old. Walters was chosen by President Roosevelt in 1933. A former resident of Caldwell Idaho, he had long been prominent in Idaho Democratic politics.
