The annual Bessman reunion gathered Sunday at Riverside Park in Alden with a noon basset lunch. Attendees from multiple towns included families of Bessman and allied relatives such as Hesstman Besman Nicholson Brandt Vierkandt Meyer and others, spanning Alden Popejoy Wellsburg Iowa Falls Dallas areas and beyond.

Harriette Lauterbach hosted a birthday party at her home last Friday for girls celebrating her 11th birthday. Guests included Marilyn Largon, Jean Campbell, Mary Jo Roland, and others. Betty and Ruth Lauterbach served refreshments, assisted by Mary Wilmer and Betty.
Friday at the W. J. Larson residence they were en route to Iowa Falls for Dr Bob Johnson to dress Dean's foot, damaged in a tractor accident a month earlier. he is getting along nicely.
The Past Matrons Club of the Order of Eastern Star sends a weekly box to a Holland family with eleven children aged 10 to 17. Members with used clothing should leave items at Mrs. Geraldine Draper’s home. the chapter receives credit for the effort.
