In San Francisco dated Sept 29 Captain Stensland of the City of Papete reports the Russian gunboat Manjur seized its papers on June 19 claiming no right to fish there. Captain Matthewson of the Fremont says the Manjur took papers from the J. Spreckels and later returned them with papers from the barkentine 8. N. Caustic and the schooner J. bp after a July 12 reunion.
In Belgrade on September 29 two former army officers held on a regicide allegation seized guards weapons, barricaded in a room, and fired through prison windows. Guards killed the officers as rioters and police clash, with more injuries reported among officers and gendarmes.
