Allied progress near Vesle pushes German retreat northward with rapid advances and withdrawal taking on large proportions as Franco American forces push against German positions.
Allied forces advance from Soissons toward Rheims and drive Germans back along the Vesle and Aisne rivers. French and American troops cross the Ailette and approach Laon defense lines while British actions include gains around Ploegsteert and sectors near Messines. Shelling at Prappel continues as German artillery harasses American positions.
Fama Fe reports W. E. Lindsey fell ill with a severe cold and sore throat after delivering an address in Albuquerque on Labor Day. He was confined to bed yesterday afternoon but is said to be much better today.
Denver and Cole report unsettled conditions with a chance of local showers in New Mexico on Friday. By Saturday, fair weather returns with rising temperatures. Arizona also sees fair conditions both days and little temperature change.
Local conditions show a maximum temperature of 79 and a minimum of 49 with a 49 degree range. Temperature reached 16 pm that day with northwest winds. Skies were clear and precipitation measured 0.64 inches.
