At 3 oclock this morning the Conservatives held 160 seats, Labour 72, Liberals 22, and other parties 9. This shows a net gain of 19 seats for the Conservatives and losses of 15 for Labour and 36 for Liberals.
London reports at 2 00 am show the Conservative party leading with 154 seats to 101 for others as results from about half the constituencies come in. Labour holds 71 seats, Liberals 1, and other groups 9. Conservatives gain 46 seats while Labour drops 16 and Liberals lose 29.
J H Thomas asserts the labor government will not resign and will present a king’s speech. He predicts a public policy showdown as conservatives may regain power under Baldwin, who previously faced a no confidence vote over tariffs.
London October 29 Conservatives hold a growing lead as returns come in. By 12 45 p m conservatives hold 84 seats in the House of Commons while Labour shows 42 and Liberals 15. Conservative gains total 30 seats, Labour up five while Liberal losses rise to 20. Labor sustains vote gains despite seat losses as the count continues.
Denver October 29 forecast shows New Mexico generally fair in the south and unsettled in the north, with much cooler conditions Thursday and fair by Friday. Arizona is generally fair Thursday with cooler conditions in the east and central portions, followed by fair Friday.

Albert Hart, a Negro, who held up the Frankel jewelry store in Yuma and fled with six diamond rings, was sentenced to three years in the state penitentiary. Hart blamed liquor for his downfall.
Henry C. Wallace, former U S secretary of agriculture, was buried in Woodland cemetery Des Moines after a day of state honors. His body lay in state at the capitol rotunda with guards, floral tributes, and public viewing. The Wallace family received prayers at the home and graveside services were conducted by ministers from Storm Lake Monmouth and Des Moines.
The Van Sweringen brothers report stockholders of the five railroads in the Nickel Plate merger have deposited sufficient shares to assure completion. They describe the progress as most satisfactory and say counsel are preparing the necessary documents to effect the plan rapidly.
William Rhodes died at the county hospital a week after being found with a bullet wound in an automobile. Four persons held in connection with the shooting are to be summoned before the coroner's jury at the inquest.

Fire at 10 o clock Tuesday destroyed the Smith and Hyatt tailor shop and the Lone barber shop in the same building in Clovis. The building, owned by Cash Ramey, was insured. Fire was discovered only after the structure was already ablaze. Origin remains undetermined.

Frances Hodgson Burnett, renowned author and playwright of Little Lord Fontleroy, died at her Plandome Park home in New York at age 75 after months of illness. Born November 24, 1849 in Manchester England, she authored more than twenty novels and six plays and edited The Children's Book.
New York officials filed charges against at least eight corporations for contributing to political parties or candidates. District Attorney Banton said an investigation has begun. Garfield Hayes, La Follette Wheeler campaign chair, claimed ads supporting Coolidge and Dawes were funded by corporations, including a signature from the Regal Shoe company president.
