In Trinidad Colorado on October 24 a nationwide executive board action authorized a strike in District No. 15 covering Colorado Utah New Mexico and Southern Wyoming if negotiations fail. Banker's Suicide Shocks Sapulpa Hotel

Oklahoma City October 29 J. W. Burnett banker from Sapulpa registered at a local hotel and shot himself in the head with a .38 revolver. He had not left his room for two days. no motive is known.

Emma Booth Tucker Dies as Only Passenger Killed in Wreck

At Dean Lake Missouri report from General Superintendent J Ed Hurley lists 29 deads and injured. Emma Booth Tucker is the sole fatality with Colonel Holland of Amity Colorado among the fatally hurt and 28 others injured. The wreck stems from a journal breaking in the rear tracks of the tourist car causing a wheel to heave and derail the train.

Basalt Colorado Detachment 29 reports a group of Mexi can sheep herders accompanying cattle from Thomasville to Utah attempted to assault Mrs John B Sheppard wife of a Midland engineer. She defended her home firing at the intruders wounding Jose Chacon and his son Antonio. The elder Chacon is thought fatally hurt. All were arrested amid talk of lynching.

Special to the Morning Journal Las Cruces N M October 20 Samuel G Bean aged 84 died suddenly at his home in the villey town after more than fifty years residence He came to New Mexico in 1846 as a free American and became a southwest pioneer He served in the Mexican War and later the Civil War leaving a legacy of civic work and autobiographical writings in the southwest community
