Her aunt Mrs W L Brown of Albuquerque expects another daughter of J B Tarter to return home soon, as the case centers on the death of R H W Mart in Atlanta in December 1921.
Juneau Alaska October 28 reports that liquor is pouring across the Alaska panhandle into the Yukon were dismissed as ridiculous and unfounded by United States Customs Chief M McBride. He said Yukon stores have enough liquor to last until next June and there is no inducement for smuggling. Skagway officials also denied increased shipments of canned goods to mask liquor and noted thorough checks of goods bound for Yukon.
Seattle reports that for the year ending June 13 1923 the total native population in Alaska reached 26508 with 11158 pupils in government schools. The data show 58 percent of adults literate and two thirds of children attending daily. One hundred one government school houses operated with five open over nine months and sixteen over eight months. the average school days were 123.
Patrick Walker, 25, a Denver optician, staggered into a police station at 8 am with deep cuts after five masked armed men claimed Klan ties abducted him from near a theater. He was driven to an abandoned cabin on the city outskirts. police found bloody floors there. Walker said he has no known enemies and will recover.

Vancouver police report W J T Mackay secretary of the greene committee at Point Gray Golf and Country club was wounded yesterday by a shot fired by Reggie Hope a 17 year old former caddie. Mackay's condition was not serious and Hope was held by police.
