Arthur L. Willard Bingham High School principal was found not guilty of murdering his former pupil Cecil Holmes after a two and a half hour jury deliberation. Defense argued self defense and Utahs written law shielding guardians from liability when a wife or ward is defiled. Willard testified he believed Holmes and Mrs Willard were intimate and his home was disrupted. Mrs Holmes and Willards mother attended.
Fire started in blacksmith shops destroyed the cyanide mill shaft house ore bins aerial tramway buildings and other Socorro Mining and Milling company property at Mogollon New Mexico. Loss is estimated at 250000 dollars partly insured. Company may suspend operations for about a year affecting regional gold and silver output.
