A mine collapse near Dawoon raises the death tally to 263 as a rescue crew from the United States Army, including two life saving veterans, are confirmed among the casualties. Rescue operations continue amid dangerous conditions at the Stag Canon Mine site.
In Stuc Canon mine disaster funeral rites were held for thirty six victims as rescuers, led by S Stevens, pulled bodies from the mine. Walter Douglas and officers oversaw operations while Dr James B Douglas visited the site and confirmed no survivors remained.
Dawson New Mexico October 24 United Mine Workers secretary treasurer K L le and two companions were deported by order of town officials after requesting a vote to allow labor agitators during work on a mine. Kinney had been in town and a town marshal barred his group at the railroad station.

Mexico City Oct. 24 The war department reports federal troops repelled 6000 rebels led by Jesus Carranza at Monterey after ten hours of battle. Reinforcements from Generals Pena Ocarranga and Anaya with 2500 troops flanked the rebels, leaving heavy rebel losses and nine trains delivering forces near the city.
