Special dispatch reports in Stag Canyon mine Dawson explosion entombed 250 workers. At 2 AM rescuers retrieved fourteen bodies and seven survivors while death toll is expected to be very heavy. Authorities hurry embalming supplies from Dawson to Denver for the dead.
In Dawson New Mexico 280 miners were trapped after an explosion at shaft No 2 of the Stag Canon mine.
