A party objects to a league pact meant to frighten voters. Lodge blocked ratification as two thirds of the Senate favored reservations agreed to by Wilson. He denounces alleged unfair distribution of Versailles Treaty literature in the state.
United States Senator A A Jones of Las Vegas charged that the anti league campaign is a tactic to win next election. Speaking at the Armory he cited a pamphlet mailed from Santa Fe and read portions accusing the league of nations and Wilson. He urged Republicans to reject misstatements and defended Governor Hanna and the state’s tax fairness. The crowd cheered as he defended history and attacked Senator Lodge and the solidarity of his party. Continued on Page Four.

President Wilson announced five of the seven members for the new Shipping Board under the merchant marine act. Willem & Henean named as chairman. others selected are Frederick Thompson of Mobile Alabama Gavin McNab of San Francisco Martin J Gillen of Baltimore Theodore Martvure of Baltimore. Board salaries set at 12000 dollars yearly. members must resign shipping interests and devote full time.
