News from Panama dated Oct 20 reports Nicaraguans in the city receiving wireless messages from Bluefields indicating the revolution is gaining ground. Exiles and former revolutionists are said to be joining General Bestrada's forces daily.
The United States army transport Sheridan reported exceptional wireless communication on a San Francisco to Philippines voyage and return via Nagasaki. It received and transmitted messages 4,500 miles from North Head Washington and 2,100 miles from Honolulu. The ship stayed in contact with Guam Cavite Nagasaki and the Japanese coast during the long crossing.
Hearst independent nominee fires four speeches in New York denouncing Gaynor and Tammany as demagogues. Gaynor smiles at Tammany Hall reference, calling Hearst a demagogue. Seth Low cites Hearst’s fight with Tammany at Carnegie Hall rally.

Washington officials announce a November meeting in New Orleans where state and southern conservation leaders will map concrete steps to apply conservation principles. Gifford Pinchot and J B White join governors and chairmen from fourteen Southern states at the pivotal conference.
Paris reports steps taken to safeguard Emperor Nicholas as he travels through France toward Italy. The imperial party is expected to enter Friday and pass into Italy via the Mont Cenis tunnel at Modane, with possible shipment of three French battleships if dispatched to Naples by sea.

Captain Meaghr and John Callaghan, delegates of the United Irish League of America, return home tonight aboard the liner White Star liner from Ireland, invited by John Redmond, arriving in New York after their mission across fourteen wards.

Judge Thomas Turke of Seattle and other names have been floated but were dismissed as speculation by Assistant Secretary of State Willie. Former Congressman Charles B. Landis of Indiana was at the State Department, listed among possible nominees.
In New York City a several hundred strong crowd of brokers’ messengers tried to block Socialist mayoral candidate Edward B. Cassidy as he spoke at Wall and Broad streets near Morgan & Co. For about an hour the din overwhelmed voices and thirteen policemen kept order. Morgan arrived by auto to observe the event and was escorted inside after a tense standoff.
