Army Flyer Meet Death in Airplane Crash Near Cape May

Three United States army aviators died when their Martin bombing plane crashed near Cape May Court House New Jersey. Pilot Lieutenant Abbott C Martin from Reading Massachusetts Captain Robert A Kinloch of Charlestown South Carolina and Staff Sergeant Joseph Coulston of Norristown Pennsylvania were killed as the craft plummeted into woods after an engine failure. The crew had parachutes but the drop was too short to deploy them and the aircraft carried household effects for Langley Field as they traveled from Mitchell Field New York to Virginia.

Frank Manville Dies Sudden in Metropolis

Frank Manville head of Johns Manville died of heart disease at 63 in his Plaza Hotel apartment in New York. He had returned to the hotel hours before death and appeared in normal health. He was divorced from his Boise wife in 1909 on desertion charges and is survived by his wife and two children and his father A T Manville of Pleasantville NY. He served as president of the Arizona Asbestos association and the Asbestos and Danville railroad of Canada and as treasurer of the Asbestos Shingle company and the Prakhin Savings Bank of New York.

Bank Robbery At North Lewisburg Shocks Ohio Town

A band of thieves robbed the Bank of North Lewisburg in Ohio early today, blowing the safe and escaping with about 3500 dollars. Sabotaged phone lines and 12 explosions between 2 and 3 30 a.m. deterred residents and bank staff, with guards denying entry to the building.

Stearns Vault Robbed Of Liquor At Federal Building

Intruders pried open a desk drawer at C. H. Stearns New Mexico federal prohibition administrator and a vault containing confiscated alcohol was found with few bottles missing. A smaller office vault also opened. Stearns notes no case evidence was harmed and steps are taken to prevent repeats. He departs for Fort Bayard conference on enforcing liquor laws.

Washington Oct 19 AP Recommendations for a multi dam system to utilize Colorado River waters for irrigation of 6,000,000 acres and 3,420,000 horsepower were presented by E C Larne of the Geological Survey. The plan would add 13 dams, 8,383 feet of head, 42,000,000 acre feet storage, and supply urban water for 10 to 15 million people while addressing flood and silt issues.
