At College Park Maryland on October 18 six Army officers Lahm Humphrey and Lt Foulois flew with Orville Wright at the government aviation school. Flights ranged from ten to eighteen minutes with Wright assisting unaided on several. Crowds watched as the craft airdrome test near trains and Eiffel Tower scenes marked a milestone in early U.S. military aviation.
Paris reports that Lambert, a French aeroplanist, soared from Juvisy aerodrome and maneuvered over Paris in a bold heavier-than-air feat. The event marked one of the period's most remarkable aerial accomplishments.

A Santa Fe rumor alleged Governor Curry would resign and be replaced by F. P. Andrews of Pennsylvania. Both denied the claim. Curry said he has no intention to resign, and Andrews said he knows nothing of such plans. The report amused Albuquerque readers and linked a Pennsylvania official to New Mexico politics.
President Taft plans a few days of golf and rest at Brother’s Big Ranch near Gregory Texas. A banquet and public speech are expected to be shaded from critics seeking political reform.
Washington October 18 The United States Supreme Court opened the second week of its term hearing numerous motions and petitions for writs of certiorari. Several petitions were granted and seventeen denied, moving cases to review where writs were granted and effectively affirming lower court decisions where writs were denied.
