The sixteenth annual reunion of the Society of the Army of the Tennessee opened in Cleveland Ohio with Gen Sherman as president. Generals Hancock Crook Pryor Madison and others sent regrets. Gov. Foster welcomed the attendees and Chaplain Mitchell led prayers as the crowd cheered the veteran leader.
New York reports indicate the steamer Fulda will sail from Europe to New York with £10000 in gold. The Canada from Havre delivered 500000 francs to Heidelbach Schelmond & Co. A passenger train en route east from Vandalia to Get. 17 jumped the track at Hagerstown. The brakeman was killed and the engineer wounded. A defective spring caused the accident. No passengers were injured.
