Julius Miller died in hospital after a blaze last night in Neill B. Field Building on Gold Avenue. Firefighters rescued others as flames intensified. Authorities investigate cause and assess damages to the Gold Avenue structure.
A blaze at the Neill B. Field building 219 West Gold Avenue trapped tenants and a dog but was stopped by Central and Highland fire crews. Julius Miller 57, a former caretaker and soldier, died from severe burns after being found in his room. Fire origin suspected in the rear of the building. three rooms damaged. rescue efforts saved the dog in a shoe box.
Salt Lake City report says George Hale of Salt Lake closed a deal with former Senator Thomas Kerns to buy the Evening Telegram. The paper will operate as an independent newspaper under new ownership and take over on November 1.
