Prominent Negro leader Booker T. Washington urges restraint and self control among Black communities in the face of oppression. He emphasizes peaceful conduct and measured response to racial hostility and discriminatory acts.
Booker T. Washington calls for calm and lawful action in the Afro American council closing. He urges steering clear of passion and prejudice, to rid the race of crime and loafing, and to act as law abiding citizens. He warns northern and southern members to consider consequences before aiding Southern neighbors.
M Zotti a friend of General Oudhakoff arrived from New York pursuing his wife who left with Lieutenant Gabriel Be sieppoff. Zotti said the general wants to save the woman from scandal and take her back to Russia where she will be cared for, denying any bloodthirsty motive.
Steubenville Ohio October notice announces Frederick Cale Fairbanks son of the vice president eloped from Pittsboro with Helen B Beott. The brief item reports the elopement as a public notice of the event.
Charles E. Hunter president of the Roosevelt Rough Riders Association called at the White House to discuss the next annual reunion to be held in Prescott Arizona. A statue of Captain Bucky ONeill may be unveiled if finished in time. The president has attended past reunions and is eager to visit Prescott next summer. No date is set pending further discussions.
Washington October 11 Captain Hamilton Ward Jr newly elected commander in chief of the United States Spanish American War veterans and John Lewis Smith adjuant general met with President Roosevelt to consider forming rifle clubs and a wartime reserve from veterans. They will also push closer ties with the Grand Army as the new administration reviews the group's role. In Livingston Montana a wreck at a railway camp killed two and injured five workers, all laborers likely from St Paul Minnesota, as rocks fell on trestle causing collapse.
Republican candidate Charles E. Hughes visits Ontario County with a train stop in Geneva and a Canandaigua speech denouncing class warfare and the alleged superior moral order. Hearst continues upstate trip amid wintry snows, condemning party politics and non partisanship debates. Bryan declares democracy fights aristocracy as crowds greet him in Central Park.
In Rusk Texas on October 11 a Democratic state campaign rally drew thousands. T. M. Campbell, governor candidate, proposed stripping foreign corporations of Texas business permits that refuse to disclose information or provide false data. Joseph W. Batley, U.S. Senate hopeful, was affirmed as the party nominee and receive party support. Campbell criticized elected representatives serving as public service attorneys. Batley stayed on his campaign lines.
Oct 11 Captain E L Tyler a retired capitalist and former president of the Atlanta and Wear Point railroad died here today in Anniston Ga from paralysis.

Hillsboro Oregon October 11 district attorney Harrison Allen presided over a grand jury secret inquiry into the Carey M. Snyder murder case. Mrs Carey M. Snyder, the widow and sole witness, testified briefly about her husband’s disappearance on December 4, 1905, while declining to elaborate on suspicions. A hearing next Saturday is expected to yield more details from Mrs Snyder. Alfred Ames, linked to the Frolic smuggling crew, surrendered at Poston on October 11 after authorities seized the schooner yacht for smuggling forty two Chinese into the country.
Roswell and Eastern Railroad company to be incorporated with $100,000 capital by solid Roswell citizens. Surveys in place for three routes to the Texas line, ten days to prepare contractor estimates. Incorporators include Kirby S. Woodruff Sheriff Chaves County and local capitalists George T. Watt Richard P. Barhett and William T. Wells. The line promises rapid development of the region east of Roswell.
