Idaho’s William Borah splits campaigns while Reed’s stumping heats St. Louis, where Hawes hopes to limit Williams margins. The Ku Klux Klan alignment looms as a weak point for Hawes.

Edward W Browning a 51 year old real estate man recounts courtship with his schoolgirl bride known as Peaches Heenan claiming she proposed to him and that she was 16 when they married 15 years old. He says he will take his wife back and details his efforts to care for her while she disappeared with her mother Katherine Heenan.
Elmer Helton, his wife and eight children were rescued after eight feet of water flooded their Byungken Arrow area home. A rescue party found them on the second floor of their house as floodwaters from two Verdigris levee breaks receded. Hud died in a room below, swift currents discouraged further rescue.

It notes the 1927 Legion convention may be in Paris and insists propaganda cannot sever U S French cordialities.
Three American missionaries captured by Hunan province bandits October 3 remain held, with no word from them. Miss Minerva Weil and Karl Beck of the Reformed Mission and Miss Lydia Koebbe of the Evangelical Mission are named. Other missionaries in Nanchang and Chengtu are believed safe but endure hardships amid civil war and rising anti foreign sentiment.
General Alvaro Obregon denies reports he was captured by Yaqui Indians on September 11 at Vicam Sonora. He sent a telegram to the Associated Press from Nogales stating he is free and rumors are without basis. Floods delayed the September telegram, affecting transmission from Sonora.
The New York jury for Harry M. Daugherty and Thomas W. Miller faced difficulty reaching any of three possible verdicts as they requested exhibits and clearer bench guidance. A verdict was unlikely before 11:30 p.m. with jurors to return Sunday morning if needed.
District Attorney Asa Keyes said he will present evidence at the McPherson preliminary hearing that she arranged for Chicago attorney H S Martin to act for co defendant Kenneth G Ormiston. Co defendant Mrs Lorraine Wiseman Sielaff would testify she plotted with McPherson and her mother Minnie Kennedy to bolster the kidnapping story and that a long distance call to Chicago was made. Additional guards will be placed around Judge Blake and Pleke's courtroom as the hearing resumes.
