In Stockton California Alex A Kels a lod butcher and cattleman charged with killing an itinerant worker identified as John Doe and possibly Ed Meservey admitted the act and the body burn. He refused legal aid insisting he wants to get it over with citing debt worries and remorse while detailing his motive and steps before and after the crime.
Stockton report notes Alexander A. Wels of Lodi, a leading citizen, confessed killer in a scheme to avert financial ruin. He began final preparations as he awaited a Wednesday sentencing in the case, with further details to follow on page two.

Lorenzo Savage a Black voodoo healer confessed to murdering 28 year old nurse Elsie Barthel after she refused to pay him 355 dollars for curing her love troubles. He reenacted the crime under police lights and claimed he struck her with a brick then dropped a marble block on her head as she tried to hand over the money. Police found six missing fortune telling cards at the scene and later recovered the matching deck near Savage's home.
