A strong resolution adopted by the Wool Growers Association condemns proposed legislation extending federal control over public domain wool through a leasing system. The resolution also brands forest reserve charges as excessive and pledges active opposition to the pending bill.
The New Mexico Wool Growers Association held an all day session with strong resolutions opposing federal grazing controls and supporting existing public domain policies. Solano Luna was elected president and Murry F. Lee became secretary as the group reviewed forest reserve impacts, grazing fees, and tariff concerns tied to the sheep industry.
Alamogordo fuel firm actions filed by special assistant to the attorney general Pey ton Gordon and Ormsby McHarg seek injunctions to stop timber cutting. Two suits in the U S court target the Pennsylvania Development Co and New Mexico Fuel and Iron Co in Manzano and Sacramento mountains, with hearings set for the 19th of the present month.
Governor Curry announces Captain John W. Greene of Gallup is appointed to lead the New Mexico penitentiary, succeeding Marion Littrell who resigns January 1. Greene, a former Rough Rider and soldier, has long ties to the territory and strong backing from President Roosevelt.
