Armijo Held for Grand Jury in Death of 16 Year Old
George Armijo was held to the grand jury on 6000 bond for manslaughter after a hearing before Justice of the Peace George F Roddy. The car he drove struck and killed Dometilca Sanchez on the Candelarias road killing her instantly. Plácido Padilla and Juan Chaviras in the car face hearings Wednesday on accompanying a drunken driver. Mrs Porfirio Gutierrez testified the victim walked along the road when the car came from behind at high speed, dragged the girl 56 feet, and showed no warning. Felipe Gutierrez said the car passed his hay wagon earlier. Patrolmen Hogan and Salavar said Armijo appeared intoxicated. Attorney John Venable represents Armijo with Assistant District Attorney Polansky for the state.
