News from Mukden reports unusual activity may signal an impending evacuation. Kuropatkin praised Red Cross nurses after the Ligo Yung battle, while Japan escalates winter preparations with rail and supply movements. Officials debate whether a major engagement is near Port Arthur or Mukden.
An equinoctial gale swept the Englich east last night with limited damage reported so far. A few fishing boats were wrecked and four men drowned, authorities said as weather conditions continued to threaten the coastline.
The Mukden dispatch sparks talk of Kuropatkin evacuating the town or a move to curb a Japanese flank. Rumors say Admiral Wiren may have sailed from Port Arthur amid a Tuesday storm. Guards units near St. Petersburg ordered to stay with the colors. Baltic ships may soon be dispatched.
Special to the Morning Journal Taos County Republican convention endorsed Hon W H H Andrews for delegate. Maliquias Martinez Taos incumbent nominated for territorial council Epimenio De Leon Cerro nominated for the house. Taos county gave Andrews a 4100 majority. A Northern counties campaign opened with Governor Otero J W Abbott Charles V Safford and others leading a party march to Espanola Tierra Amarillo Embudo and through San Juan and Rio Arriba counties. Andrews joined the party at Embudo and will run with the speakers through San Juan.
Horton Moore was elected chairman and Bliss Freeman secretary of the Dona Ana county Democratic convention. Moore was named as the committee choice to select a candidate for the territorial council from the district including Grant Luna Dona Ana and Otero counties. The ticket lists Santiago P. Ancarte for sheriff Willie Jacoby for treasurer and collector Vincent B. May for assessor David Apedaci for probate judge William Dessauer for probate clerk Kilian B. Day for superintendent of schools Charles Post for surveyor Oscar C. Snow for commissioner first district and Augustin Lopes for commissioner second district.
Bogton Oct 6 Arch bishop of Canterbury told the joint session of the house of bishops and house of deputies that the church should guard the religious life of the home. At the deputies session resolutions proposing stricter remarriage canon for divorced persons were presented and one was acted upon to bar remarriage during the life of a former spouse. A later discussion will address the full issue.
Wellington BC reports Rear Admiral Wise commander in chief of the Atlantic training squadron recommended a stay for the greater part of winter in Pen solutions harbor and nearby waters to continue training and readiness.
The 24th annual New Mexico fair draws crowds and participants as rail service improves. Cavalry units travel from Laguna toward Albuquerque while horses and bronco busting contenders head in from Denver and Pueblo. Key figures include Secretary Guneul en route, President McGaffey directing the opening, and Colonel W. He Greer shipping two carloads of prize animals. Decorators from Kansas City and Chicago begin setup as the city readies for a bustling fair week.

Nine are in automobile that careened from a Bronx embankment at Jerome Avenue onto the New York Central tracks. A southbound train struck the wreck, killing a man and a woman and injuring seven others who were hospitalized at Wordham. names not learned.
Ogden Utah October 6 Senator Fairbanks arrived at 4 PM and spoke at the Grand opera house to a full audience. He did not discuss Utah politics in detail but addressed foreign trade expansion and campaigned with Utah Republicans including Bee Howell and Howelle. The party traveled from Elko to Ogden meeting supporters, with Dotliver rejoining after throat trouble and plans to proceed to Colorado.
Washington reports that Admiral Volsterling, commander in chief of the Aviatic sect, submitted a Navy department recomm ending important additions to the Asiatic squadron. The report was referred to various bureaus for consideration and command review.
At the International Peace Congress in Boston on May 6 1906 resolutions urged gradual worldwide disarmament as the first task for the proposed world convention. General Nelson A Miles warned that war arbitration harms youth and nations, while opposing tyrants, usurpers, and aggressive defence spending threaten global progress and peace.
