Washington October 4 The Associated Press reports that Senate Finance Chairman Penrose urges prompt passage of revenue revision laws while noting the measure is temporary He plans to submit diverse tax ideas to a special or joint committee after pending legislation becomes law House leaders Fordney Mondell oppose new taxes stressing a sift not shift approach Several amendments by Senator Calder aim to restrain home construction and broaden housing tax relief through exemptions on profits from dwelling sales and interest on loans for housing.
Viscount Bryce, former British ambassador to the United States, warned in New York that hatred after the great war could sow seeds of future conflict in continental Europe. He hailed the disarmament conference as a step forward and expressed hope for a satisfactory solution to the Irish question.
The process to select Americas unknown soldier to lie in Arlington National Cemetery proceeds with a non-commissioned officer from the Rhine area choosing the bearer at Chalons Sur Marne on October 24. The body departs Havre on October 25 aboard the US cruiser Olympia.

The wife J da Meyer Southard stands trial in district court for allegedly poisoning her husband Edward F Meyer. Witnesses C D Thomas and Rex Thomas of Tuaho State Life Insurance recount Meyer's two visits about a $10000 policy and a first premium receipt found after his death on September 7. Georgia Maxwell testified the defendant was alone with Meyer in his room on September 5 or 6. Continued on Page Two.

Whisky runner Jack Lawrence swore he delivered bottles to Walt at the Francie and later to “Fatty” Wall, with most liquor from Canada and some described as “moons shine.”
Rev. W. E. Bennett a Nazarene preacher was sentenced to six months in jail and fined 509 dollars after a statutory conviction in Meridian Mississippi. He testified the mother of his eight children was not his wife and claimed only a Texas marriage. Justice Raymond Clay held the lover of his children was his wife under Louisiana law.
The advance party of the British delegation to the Washington armament conference will sail Oct. 26. The remainder of the secretariat and delegates will arrive in New York only a few days before the opening of the conference. Announcement of the personnel will be made Thursday.
