Excursionists are crushed to death when trains on the Hliners traction system collide near Staunton. Rescue efforts rush to the scene as authorities investigate the deadly wreck that leaves dozens dead and many injured.
One death from dread scourge occurs on steamer arriving at New York from Italian ports.
A head on crash between two Mindis Traction interurban cars near Staunton Illinois kills many and injures at least thirty. One north bound car had orders to meet the south bound section at Staunton but was reportedly not warned properly. Passengers describe a catastrophic smash as crews attempted to aid the injured and identify victims.
A Whnole Traction line crash two miles north of Hiaunton, WL, leaves 37 dead and 25 injured. Officials fear more fatalities as details remain scarce and reports are slow to reach the public. Continued on Page 2 Col 44.
