A crowd at Ghursh Falls worship site was crushed when a stairwell collapse sent worshippers falling about 18 feet into a basement during ceremonies. Several worshippers sustained injuries as rescuers aided the crowd.
A crowd rush at a venue injured fifty three people with seven in serious condition. rescuers say most will recover after rapid extrication required about half an hour.
A floor in the First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City collapsed during cornerstone ceremonies in November injuring thirty three people. Seventeen named victims were identified incl Honey Wert among the injured. most are expected to recover as rescuers freed victims from eighteen feet below after a lengthy removal operation.
A federal jury in Salt Lake City convicted twelve master plumbers from Utah and Colorado of conspiring to restrain supplies to nonmembers of the national association. The verdict recommended extreme mercy with sentencing set for October 14. Names include Chriso Irvin, James Macbeth, Ald Atkin, and others.
Morgan Cole John Swan and JH Wilcox were arrested early today charged with the murder of Charles Kyser night marshal. Godfrey Wesmer was killed in the shootout after Kyser attempted to arrest the two men. Swan wounded, believed from Kyser fire. Weymer says Kyser was summoned to eject the men from his home.
The second annual session in New Mexico of the Methodist Episcopal Church closed last evening led by Bishop World Shepard. Appointments include S. Alane Bright as superintendent of English work and Rev. F. M. Harwood for Spanish work with several clergy reassigned or to be supplied across Albuquerque Cimarron Las Vegas Santa Fe and other towns.

Kansas City Missouri October. Mighty reports that five per cent of the 40 000 members of six railway shopmen unions across twenty western railroads voted to reject compromise railroad proposals. Demands call for an eight hour day and a five cent hourly raise. Negotiations to continue. Most workers are in stationary shop work with 75 percent. The compromise offered an average 2 1 2 cent raise and eight hour day for stationary workers. Other workers would keep a nine hour day for efficiency.
Athens reports renewed confidence that King Constantine will telegram his war decision to Emperor Nicholas and President Poincare by Monday. A minimal national cabinet is anticipated, with Venizelos possibly holding a portfolio and Kalogeropoulos remaining premier and finance minister. General Moschopoulos seeks 45 day leave. Gennadis likely replaces him.
Gen Francisco Gonzales commander of the Carranza forces in the north arrives from Chititahua City after a conference with Gen Jacinto Trevino northeastern military zone chief. They discuss campaign against Villa and using northern troops to cooperate with Trevino's field commands. Gonzales may command a western Chihuahua force against Villa moving from Casas Grandes with Gen Carlos Ozana who has relieved Gen Matt Humor wounded at Cusihuirinehbic.
An examination reveals Mrs. Florence A. Smell's body, found in burned Ossipee ruins, was covered with resin after she was shot, beaten and strangled. Her husband Frederick L. Small is jailed in Ossipee on murder charges with a hearing set for October 5.
In New York, two sisters Harriet Veder 70 and Caroline Cutherbeck 65 widows were suffocated by smoke from a fire that caused minor damage in their three story frame house. Firemen found the pair seated at a dining room table.
Major General Frederick Funsten finished his tour of border army camps in Brownsville Texas and departed for Corpus Christi to inspect the second and third Texas infantry camps.

Two boys discovered the dead body of a woman about 60 in a wooded area two miles east of Grand Rapids Michigan. She had two bullet holes in the forehead and right arm and appeared to have been dead three or four days. In her pocketbook a card bearing the name Mrs. Mary Kimbell Elm Street Richmond Ind was found.
Edward P. Ripley president of the Atchison Topeka Santa Fe appeals to stockholders to back remedial legislation after Congress passed the eight hour law at the urging of railway brotherhoods. He argues the act is unconstitutional and urges action to resist it. He notes the president urged ICC freight rate hikes to cover wage costs and to bar strikes pending investigation, while brotherhoods vow to resist any such legislation.

Representatives of major American mining interests in Mexico are to appear before Mexican American Joint Commission members in Atlantic City. The session will discuss peace terms along the border, Villa's activity in Chihuahua, Carranza’s electoral decree and the closure of the National Bank and the Bank of London and Mexico.
Thirteen people were killed and more than twenty five injured when a switch engine collided with a crowded streetcar on Forest avenue at Dequinder street as shoppers returned from the store. The incident left many in critical condition and sparked a large emergency response.

United States Senator James P. Clarke, born Yazoo City Mississippi 1854, former governor of Arkansas and president pro tempore of the Senate, died at his Little Rock home after a stroke. He represented Arkansas in the U S Senate from 1903 to 1921. Funeral services set for Tuesday at his residence followed by interment at Hollywood Cemetery. Governor Hays ordered state departments closed for the funeral.
Washington October 1 Senator Clarke former president pro tempore and Democratic leader in Maine opposed several party measures. He criticized the eight hour bill and ship purchase bill, then supported government ownership revisions. Clarke chaired foreign relations and military affairs committees.
Special correspondence from Santa Fe reports Sheriff Merrath Deputy Taylor and Jailer Tecomo delivering inmates to the penitentiary from Grant County. The list includes Guadalupe Ramirez for assault to kill eighteen months to three years, plus others charged with larceny bribery and criminal assault with sentences ranging from one to life.
A convoy of twelve war ships escorted the German cruisers Kronprin Wilhelm and Pring Eitel Friedrich to the Philadelphia navy yard from Norfolk. The ships were brought inside beyond the three mile limit to free space at Norfolk. Ten escort vessels halted at the Delaware Capes.
