Flood and fire devastate a Pennsylvania town as homes collapse and bodies are recovered. Women and children perish in the deluge with many crewmembers and residents trapped by rising waters. Rescue efforts continue as authorities call it a catastrophe unmatched since Johnstown.
A Bayless Pulp and Paper dam near Austin Pa bursts releasing 500000 gallons of water that devastates Costella and Austin. The flood sweeps away 300 to 1000 residents, destroys 1060 buildings, and ignites fires after a gas line rupture. Rescue efforts by Red Cross and state authorities are underway.
Eyewitness accounts describe a devastating flood after a concrete dam failed on Freeman's Run. Residents race to safety as water overwhelmed homes, roads, and a Penn Tanning plant area, with 160 bodies reported and relief still gathering from surrounding towns.

The American Red Cross will begin flood relief in Austin, Texas. National director Ernest P. Bicknell will depart to oversee aid operations and coordinate relief efforts for the affected residents.
In Willard New Mexico on September 30 the Torrance County Democratic Convention named twenty two delegates to Santa Fe for the state convention and pledged them to attend as a unit. R L Hitt and KB Reberson were recommended for the state committee. Delegates include Wasson Jennings Brumback Herndon Lobb Fastey Lasater Dunlavy Black Milbourn Bennett Greenfield Hitt Roberson Ward Smith Baca Gouwtin Mpler Ottesen Goodrich Irittain with half votes each.
Fragmentary OCR notes describe an aircraft contest with a pilot named Rodgers near Huntington Indiana and mentions landing after a 95 minute flight. The text also references Decatur and Tad with times around four to five o'clock and a distance of five miles.
In Teheran on September 30 a second battle sees Salar Ed Dowleh, brother of the deposed Shah, lose two hundred killed and wounded and two cups. A detachment of one thousand Geet cavalry in the government force is in pursuit.
London reports the second day of the Italian Turkish war with no major battles. Italian bombardment near Tripoli claimed, while Italian destroyers engage Turkish vessels and seize a yacht and steamer. Casualty figures remain unclear as Italian ships harass Turkish squadrons and rumors fly about farther engagements.
Constantinople reports Italian forces under three cruisers and four destroyers began landing near Prevesa at 3 o clock. An official telegram says two Turkish torpedo boats Alpaxut and Hamid Abad were sunk off Prevesa by the Italian squadron.
Paris dispatch reports a rumor at the Porte that the entire Ottoman fleet except one cruiser has been destroyed. officials at the marine ministry could not confirm or deny the claim.
Weather forecast from Washington reports New Mexico likely showers Sunday and Monday. Arizona expected showers Sunday with Monday turning fair. West Texas shows showers in the Panhandle Sunday and generally fair Monday.

About ten thousand men in the Southern Pacific shops saw a fraction under fifty percent obey.
