A court martial hearing erupts in controversy as the defense attorney challenges questioning remarks. The session becomes tense as objections and sharply worded exchanges draw the court into disruption.
Washington November 27 A four hour session focused on evidence as Brig. Gen. Edward L. King faced questions about an on record remark during cross examination. Court officers said King may seek relief from duty while Reid sought to strike the remark from the record and pursue a possible re hearing.
Denver forecast mostly fair conditions for Saturday and Friday with little temperature change. Arizona and New Mexico expect partly cloudy skies with steady temperatures while Santa Fe notes sun rise at 156 a m and sunset at 450 p m local time.
Eloy D. Trujillo of Taos county is appointed by Governor Hannett to serve as corporation commissioner, filling the term of the late Ed C. Tafoya. Trujillo, a World War I veteran active in the American Legion, has worked in the state auditor's office since 1923 and is a Democrat from Taos.
State engineer George M. Neel announced New Mexico will fight any claims by Jay Turley to San Juan river water. Turley offered to supply Albuquerque water at 3 million dollars, but the state asserts Turley failed to use the water beneficially and thus forfeits any title.
Governor Pinchot called wage negotiations committees of miners and operators to meet in Harrisburg to consider ending the suspension of operations in the hard coal fields. He asked the scale committees and a special mediation panel from Scranton Chamber of Commerce to attend, marking the first concrete move to resolve the strike in effect since September 1.

Officials say no proof ties them to the Vermillion claim and searches in Santa Fe and Las Vegas yielded no trace.
Samuel Harden Church president of Carnegie Institute trustees voiced opposition to theater censorship at a national conference in Pittsburgh. He urged that censorship come from public opinion and the market, not government, noting Cannes of erotic works pale before the demand for beauty in drama.
Los Angeles November 27 Charles Ray motion picture actor known for a string of financial misadventures including a government suit for about 250000 in back income taxes filed in federal court today. He filed a voluntary petition in bankruptcy listing liabilities of 2036 508 and assets of 130 55.
President Coolidge rejected rumors that Secretary Wilbur planned to resign. The White House issued a denial, stating the administration has no such intention and Wilbur will continue in his post as of today.
In Chico California on November 27 the city attorney proposed slaughtering the contested cow and serving barbecue to the plaintiff defendant witnesses and court. The pasture dispute began when N C Jessee balked at Parker’s $3 monthly pasture fee. The cow was slaughtered and the remaining portions to be shared by the parties.
Chester I Long of Kansas, president of the American Bar Association, warned the Illinois State Bar association that the battle against intolerance is on and the freedom of learning is in peril. He cited Scopes and court rulings overturning laws restricting German and modern languages, stressing teacher and child liberties.
Mexico City reports negotiations under way between Spain and Mexico on a treaty to compensate landowners for lands seized and divided among agrarians. Spain initiates discussions as the first country to address the issue.

New York November 27 The Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe ordered 850 gondola cars from American Car and Foundry 500 automobile cars from Pullman Car and Manufacturing and 600 tank cars from the American Tank Car Corporation totaling 1850 cars for expansion and freight service.
Reports from Point Loma and naval stations said initial 8 O 8 signals from the freighter Victor were misinterpreted as distress calls. The Kanawha picked up the signals en route to Balboa, but later were traced to an error as the Victor was not in distress.
Seattle authorities say Deputy Sheriff Lee Parker helped arrest Roy Olmstead and six others as rum runners at Woodmont Beach after federal prohibition officers arrived. Parker claims he went to the scene alone to observe liquor unloading and was told to seek state warrants for Olmstead and four others.
Alamogordo New Mexico November 27 court officials from Las Cruces prepare for a January term expected to be long with three murder trials. Sam Lewis of Pinons faces murder in a stockman dispute over public domain. Dempson Lewis near Orange is charged with killing Lem Tanner in a range dispute. Hunt Hobbs Will Tittsworth and Tom Simer of Capitan are charged with ambush killing Robert Hurt near Capitan last October.
Mar guerite McNulty motion picture actress sues William Andrew Clark of Los Angeles in Supreme Court New York for breach of promise. The engagement began January 15 with marriage expected soon. Clark allegedly refused to marry on October 24 at Hotel Belmont. Case cites Clark's copper and railroad ties and notes service and substitution orders.
Austin November 27. Governor Miriam A Ferguson faces possible impeachment as the Hoffman Construction answer to Attorney General Moody’s suit is released. The company offers to resurface 600 miles of highways or settle on terms similar to American Road. payments sought by the state total 451,000. The Texas legislature may convene before December 10 if Ferguson does not call a special session. Speaker Lee Satterwhite says the governor’s actions resemble her husband’s and notes impeachment grounds could arise. Travis County grand jury has been investigating state affairs and will report tomorrow.
Former Texas governor James E. Ferguson admits to New York Times that he, not Miriam Ferguson, is the real Texas governor. He says she abdicated part of her powers and defends her, blaming disgruntled contractors county officials and political foes for the current turmoil. He accuses Attorney General Moody and Speaker Satterwhite of seeking the governorship.
Unconfirmed reports from Dempsey camp say the heavyweight title bout with Marty Wills may be staged in Chicago if Illinois legalizes boxing or else moved to another venue outside Michigan City.
Berlin November 27 Chancellor Stresemann and Foreign Secretary win ratification of Locarno security pact with France Belgium Poland and Czecho Slovakia and approval for Germany to apply for League of Nations membership after a six week battle in the Reichstag. The vote approved the alliance terms and a separate measure backing League entry with concessions sought in the Rhineland.
