Madrid May 80 All Spain is rejoicing on the eve of King Alfonso and Princess Victoria Ena wedding. Fireworks illuminate the capital and streets are dense with crowds as officials close schools and celebrate the state ceremony at the Prado palace. The wedding contract is published in the Official Gazette and includes the bride’s income, succession arrangements, and royal safeguards. King Alfonso receives American envoy Mr Whitridge delivering Roosevelt’s congratulations. Anarchists plan to attack the king at the wedding day, with fears of a coordinated plot across England France and Spain, prompting police precautions.
London May 30 reports say the British battleship Montagu struck rocks at Lundy Island and may be unsalvageable. Naval experts fear refloating could cause the vessel to sink in thirty fathoms while crew were rescued though several sailors suffer broken limbs and serious injuries amid panic aboard after the collision.
Vienna May 36 Baron von Beck a high official of the ministry of agriculture has been charged by the emperor to form a new cabinet to succeed the Hohenlohe Schillingfuerst ministry which resigned May 28 due to dissatisfaction with the proposals for the settlements of the common customs tariff of Austria Hungary. Baron von Beck is in Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand's confidence. The Seppities anger over being ignored in tariff settlement with Hungary caused violent speeches in parliament. Rumor says the crown granted concessions to Hungary and that the cabinet may negotiate a commercial treaty with Servia in Hungary's name without Austrian consent.
An excursion steamer Vina capsized near Riga due to overloading. Fifteen people are believed dead with eleven bodies recovered from below the decks after the disaster occurred last evening.
Michael Davitt, Irish leader and former South Mayo MP, died at noon after a long illness in Dublin. He passed surrounded by family and close friends including John Dillon, with Father Matton visiting earlier. His wife, Mrs. Davitt, remains ill in hospital. Death followed blood poisoning after two jawbone necrosis operations.
Conception Chile May 36 The British ship Llamore under Captain Cowell from Melbourne April 21 to Coronel has wrecked at Manta Maria. Twenty two crew members are drowned including all officers. First mate Roepe and three crew landed at Slico.
In San Juan on May 30 strikes disrupt sugar plantations. The American Federation of Labor says police are used to intimidate strikers and a protest will be sent to President Roosevelt via Samuel Gompers. Also notes a Mormon press purchase in New York and the old Washington hand press used for the Book of Mormon.
In Pendleton Oregon on May 30 one third of residents are temporarily homeless as the Umatilla river floods the town. The big wagon bridge above Pendleton washed out and wrecked spans threaten the railroad bridge. Trains halted. City business flooded and residents seek higher ground in the hills. In nearby Walla Walla Washington heavy flood damage looms with power cut and bridges washed away. In Cincinnati Ohio seventeen hurt in a collision between an automobile and two streetcars on Vine Street Hill. one killed. The car storage tank exploded, burning occupants including Dr J C Atkins and Bertha and Eugenia Nelson. thirteen riders on the streetcar burned lightly.
London May 30 Harry Simons and Franklin Everhart Americans were found guilty of conspiring to obtain large sums by fraud. Simons received two years hard labor and Everhart eighteen months hard labor for forging shares and certificates related to multiple mining ventures including Alaskan Oklahoma Cripple Creek and Manitoba Mining company Vesuvius Active. Naples July 30 The north part of Mount Vesuvius main cone continues to fall causing explosions and ash to Capria and Sorrento.
Reports from Tapachula Mexico indicate Guatemalan revolutionists led by General Toledo intend to invade central Guatemala and battle President Cabrera's army at Guatemala City. Cabrera allegedly fears assassination and flight as Salvadoran officials deny backing the insurgents.
A bench warrant was served on Webb Covington president of the last state senate at his Clarkeville home. He faces two indictments for alleged boodling in the last legislature. Warrants are to be sworn out for about thirty lawmakers in the house and senate charged with complicity.
Elste Muli hoff, 17, daughter of William Muli hoff of Benton, was assaulted and murdered near the Old Benton farm in Benton, Washington. Her body, with a throat cut, was found by searchers today about 1,000 feet from the Primitive Gospel church after she had gone to herd cows at 5 PM yesterday. authorities suspect tramps due to the location and circumstances.
Theodore P. Shonts chairman of the Panama Canal Commission spoke in Decatur at Agnes Scott Institute and again to the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. He urged adoption of the lock canal system and discussed southern relations to the canal.
Women from across the United States gather in St Paul for the General Federation of Women’s Clubs biennial convention. The event opens tomorrow and lasts a week with meetings at the National Guard Armory and exhibits in the old Capitol building. Local preparations dominated the day as business sessions approach.

Ratification by referendum expected to reopen mines by June 10 in the states. Missouri miners have not yet accepted the terms.
