A dramatic Lausanne session settles the indemnity dispute, averting war in the Near East as nations reach a peace outcome rather than hostilities. The reunion marks a decisive shift toward calm settlement and regional stability.
A dramatic Taueanne session at Ouchy chateau achieved complete agreement on the Turco Greek reparations dispute. Greece concedes indemnity, Turkey waives indemnity for Thrace, and both nations agree on Thrace boundary rectification and exchange of wartime assets. US diplomat Joseph C. Grew aided the settlement, urging moderation and unity among Greece, Turkey, and the allies.
Oliver Slade, charged with the murder of Fred Steig near Kenna Roosevelt County, was remanded to jail without bail by Judge Carl A. Hatch. Slade allegedly followed Steig to the pasture and fired four shots, three hitting Steig and killing him. Slade had worked for Steig on the Santa Fe railroad and reportedly threatened him.
Denver forecast notes New Mexico Fair Sunday and Monday with cooler conditions on Sunday in the northeast portion. Arizona fair Sunday and Monday morning with no decided temperature change overall.

Newport May 26 Secre tary Denby told the Naval War College graduating class that the navy must stay prepared for defense in a world of menace He cautioned against excessive armament yet urged adding cruisers light draft gunboats submarines and aircraft within treaty limits He favored closer contact between officers and sailors and said fewer court martials would benefit both sides.
Umbrella Mike Horie, a Chicago labor leader, was sentenced to six months in jail and fined 1500 for contempt of court related to failure to answer grand jury questions in a probe of tampering with jurors. Lake County judge R K Welch later reduced the fine to 100 and granted a stay until June. Newmark faced immunity talks and was cited to show cause for contempt after testifying refusal.
Roswell New Mexico May 26 twenty two cadets completed high school and received certificates at the New Mexico Military Institute commencement. Governor Hinkle awarded diplomas to fifteen junior college graduates as General Pershing and Major General Lewis sent congratulatory telegrams. Cadets Bullock Stratten Murray Corn Clark honored with prizes, while Major Skipwith presented commissions. Memorial service paid tribute to Col James W Whilisen who led the school to national prominence.
Lieutenant Harrison G. Crocker lands at Selfridge Field after a 1,400 mile Gulf to Canada flight. He departed Fillington Field Houston earlier today and completed the trip in about 11 hours 29 minutes of actual flying time.
Nebraska star pole vaulter Kid Diesbbarger's back injured after pole snapped during trials at the Missouri Valley Conference meet here today. He collapsed after the fall and was carried from the arena.

Pekin May 26 AP reports Chinese forces under General Tien Chung-Yu move into the hills above Lincheng to free fourteen captives including six Americans held by bandits. Three brigades with machine guns and two scouting airplanes probe the region while negotiations falter.
At a Chicago valuation conference Willam Jennings Bryan warned that government ownership of railroads seems inevitable due to regulation challenges. He argued Congress has failed to set fair rates and urged action to protect the public, while officials discussed organizing state groups and pressuring the Interstate Commerce Commission.
