The trial of Dr. Arthur Warren Waite for the murder of his father-in-law John E. Peck of Grand Rapids opens in New York. One hundred fifteen witnesses are summoned including Waite’s wife Clara Peck Waite who has filed for divorce. Waite plans to plead insanity claiming dual personalities.
Reports from Innsbruck say fighting continues on the Italian front. Four thousand five hundred Austrian wounded arrive at Laibach and total Austrian losses since the offensive began are estimated at eight thousand. Eight to ten Austrian army corps are said to be in the Trent province.
Swiss reports from La Seo fieneva via Paris say Clemens Delbrueck will resign as vice chancellor and interior minister and Gottlieb von Jagow may retire as foreign minister. Prince von Ruelow is expected to become foreign minister.

Governor McDonald pardoned Valentino Tabarez who was sentenced in 1915 to 100 days and a $100 fine after recommendations from District Attorney Kk. Scott Sheriff G.C. Rh. Young and Justice of the Peace R.K.D. Bell. A conditional pardon was granted to Harry K. Grubbs from Quay County for 90 days and a $50 fine.
