Pasadena, May 18 Dr George Hale and assistants report sun spot groups on the solar disk near the center and edge with a large 100000 mile long group and several smaller ones. Hale says the spots are of the tornado type and unlikely linked to recent earthquakes or the comet.

Nuguetine Piresise an elderly French gardener, 55, living near Corrales north of Albuquerque, killed himself by swallowing copper and poisons last Thursday amid fear of a coming comet. He had been mentally unsettled since a head injury in a 14 year old runaway, and left a young sister. He had worked for the Christian Brothers at Bernalillo.
