A series of tornadoes swept through Missouri Kansas and Oklahoma wrecking structures and trains. Local officials report extensive damage to homes, farms, and rail lines with crews deployed to clear debris and assist residents.
A May 14 special report notes tornadoes across Kansas Missouri and Oklahoma causing at least five deaths and numerous injuries. Wrecked trains downed wires and destroyed towns including Hellis Kan near Concordia and Great Bend area. In East New York, May 14, baker Max Albeim was dragged from his bed and dragged to a basement vat of rough while his wife Mrs Alheim faced a dough-throwing raid. He was severely beaten and had to be taken to a hospital after the attack by striking laborers who targeted nonstriking workers.

Two men who broke into the residence of Ambassador White last November were sentenced to fifteen hours with hard labor and banned from residence in France for twenty years. In Bremerton the post office near Puget Sound Navy Yard was robbed by professional burglars who forced the safe and fled with $1,000 in stamps a $250 diamond and about 200 in jewelry.
A Japanese restaurant owner Pubabiki Senkichi was badly beaten near Girard Centre station after a subway confrontation with a white man who refused him a seat. A crowd joined the melee and police intervened. Senkichi was later jailed on unrelated charges as the incident drew in a crowd and city attention.
In a morning report from Key West Florida two boat workers on vessel No 3 twenty miles west of the coast were instantly injured by a massive powder blast. One man was brought to hospital for treatment while others were blown to pounds of dynamite debris. Edward Weeton arrived later in Kansas City walking toward the coast on May 14.
Joe Brown was found not guilty of murdering Manon Clements, a former El Paso peace officer. State witnesses testified Clements was shot in the back. defense witnesses claimed Clements had offered to hire a killer for $1,000. The jury deliberated about an hour. Brown managed the Coney Island saloon in El Paso.
