Former governor Hagerman announces he will not discuss his resignation causes until a promised court hearing is granted. He asserts commitment to full legal inquiry and demands due process before public statements.
A committee of ten Albuquerque Republicans urged Governor Hagerman to appear and explain the resignation request. Hagerman, who spoke in January at the University of New Mexico, received the invitation but declined to comment, citing ongoing uncertainty over the matter and urging patience until higher courts decide.

The Catholic church at Yeleta twelve miles east of El Paso was destroyed by fire tonight. Origin unknown though believed due to candles on the altar. The Yeleta church is cited as one of North America’s oldest, possibly the western hemisphere’s oldest, built by pioneer priests.
Santa Barbara May 14 distressed scenes at the funeral train departure. Mrs Wascon collapsed at the depot and other women fainted. children became hysterical near relatives on board. Southern Pacific officials aided the grieving party as the train began homeward amid fear of another wreck.
Thirty firemen were overcome by suffocating fumes in a basement storeroom of a five story building housing the Typwriter company offices. They were rescued and revived after exposure in the smoke filled cellars.

Morning Journal reports a Union Pacific engine exploded at Pryor. Engineer Mathes Ferrill was instantly killed. Fireman Hoy Knapp and brakeman Walter Hoskins were seriously injured. Knapp not expected to recover.

Tele gram instructions have been received to resume at once the building of the Athol cut off on the Union Pacific lines between Cheyenne and Denver. The contract totals about 560000 dollars and the work was ordered discontinued after starting. The cut off will reduce the steep grade over Athol Hill and shorten train runs between the two cities. Isaac Stephenson of Marquette leads in the Republican senatorial caucus with 48 votes toward his election to the U S Senate. final tally places Stephenson at 45 with Hatton 23 McGregor 6 Hudnall 1 absent 5.

Officials of the Citizens Bank of North Topeka report the safe was entered between Saturday night and Monday morning and robbed of ten thousand dollars with half in gold and the balance in currency. No explosives were used and the safe combinations were tampered with. Authorities pursue sensational arrests as investigation continues.
Kansas professor leads successful war on mischievous green bug now devastating farms in the West as bees exterminate wheat crops.
Lawrence, May 14. Professor J. Hunter of the state university entomology department reports sending about two thousand boxes of parasite bees to Kansas farmers with uniform good results against green bugs destroying wheat. He appeals for more funds to expand the program and notes demand remains high as pests also threaten new corn sprouts in central Kansas.
Washington reports that the green bagworm aphis pest harming Texas Oklahoma and parts of Kansas has been nearly eradicated by its natural parasite. Beneficial parasites released from Oklahoma and Texas are multiplying in wheat fields aided by favorable weather and field agents. If current conditions hold the pest may be fully terminated with minimal further damage.
The sale at Coveland on May 14 featured twelve thousand dollars in bids from Billings' stables. Top horses Major Delmar Black Lock George G and Morning Star sold for substantial sums. Major Delmar went to W. A. Bradley of New York for $12,000 and George fetched about $10,000 with a 2:05 8-4 figure.
