Cheyenne May 12 Jackson Wyoming claims to be the first city governed entirely by women after a mayor and three councilwomen win on a women’s ticket by a two to one margin in a sex issue campaign. Rose Crabtree defeats her husband Henry on the men’s ticket. Jackson population about 300 is isolated near Yellowstone with the nearest railroad seventy five miles away.
Dispatches from Mexico report heavy fighting as federal forces clashed with rebel troops under Gen Reyes Marques near Apizaco Tlaxala and Apam Hidalgo. Obregon claimed control of Mexico City and Gulf gunboats while Sonora moves to name a successor to Gov de la Huerta.
University faculty expressed deep sympathy after the death of Mee J M Cochran wife of Dean J M Cochran engineering school. Born 1887 in Summitville Ind she lived in Philadelphia and Albuquerque before moving to Indiana for burial. Interment planned in Indiana with faculty appointing a committee to aid the family.
Major Crile instructs Salvation Army volunteers as they launch a campaign to raise 15 000 dollars for home service funds. Workers meet at the YMCA at 8 AM to receive routes with four minute men and army lassies aiding outreach amid calls for more volunteers. Albuquerque and other towns aim to reach the goal after Carlsbad led the first day.

Selected runners include MacArthur, Gerphelde, Brown, Suanini, Have, Catkins, Voraker, Greenleaf, Pearce and Morris. Post meet efforts aim to schedule football games and bring Arizona here next year. The team, though hurt by recent season, shows potential under Coach M.
Reports from Vera Cruz indicate Carranza fights rebels near San Marcos while claims of his capture circulate in the United States. Diplomatic notes describe flight with large government funds and Cabrera’s escape route. Rebels report Matamoros under rebel control and Villareal en route to Monterey as Dieguez’s and Morales’s forces resist near Irapuato and Piedras Negras remains tense.
Mexico City fell to revolutionists led by Gen Pablo Gonzales after Carranza officials evacuated. Gen Alvaro Obregon then arrived with about 10 000 troops, promising orderly transfer and constitutional government with planned elections and friendly US policy.
Jehn Hank five year old son of Mr and Mrs Hank of near Portales was bitten on the hand by a rattlesnake recently. He was brought to Portales for medical care and is suffering greatly but expected to recover.
