A violent incident aboard an express train in China leaves a foreign passenger dead while the daughter of the late Senator Nelson W. Aldrich is reported missing. Authorities investigate the gunmen and motive as the train travels between major cities.
The Tientsin Pekin line near the Shantung border was attacked at 3 a.m. by bandits who disarmed about 1000 soldiers and wrecked a long stretch of track. Fifty first class and 100 second class passengers were seized with six foreigners escaping. Miss Idrich of New York, sister in law of John D Rockefeller Jr., was aboard. her fate unknown. Officials seek troops from governors to surround bandits.
Miss Lucy Aldrich sister of Mrs. John D. Rockefeller Jr. left New York for a world tour with a traveling companion. Brother Winthrop W. Aldrich says no word has been received. She has lived mainly at Warwick Rhode Island and in Massachusetts. The party reportedly includes Standard Oil officials and a Miss Medden and a maid accompanied her.

He intends to return home but may be sent to Fort Bliss for military authorities.
About 306 Native Hoosiers gathered at Robinson park for the annual reunion on Sunday. The program featured songs, several addresses, declamations, and greetings from Governor McCray. A committee was named to arrange next year’s reunion on the first Sunday in May 1924.
The treasury announced a new offering of 460 million dollars in treasury notes to finish refunding the victory notes from World War I. The issue carries four and one half percent interest and aims to retire the four billion dollars of Victory notes previously issued.

Vancouver, May 5 George F Whitfield was found guilty of first degree murder in the slaying of 11 year old Anna Nosko near Battle Ground Washington. The jury deliberated seven hours before the verdict. Anna was abducted off a road home from school and her throat was cut after being beaten. Whitfield had previously pursued Mrs Nosko and was arrested at a cabin with relatives. A fellow prisoner testified Whitfield confessed to abducting and killing the girl.
Louis Peter fireman and eight others from Honolulu were injured when the starboard steam evaporator exploded on the U S S New York. Peter died. six others remained in critical condition and were taken to Relief. Garrity and Ventello had serious injuries but were not in danger. Details were not released and a board of inquiry was expected.
New York May 6 The bond market mostly fell over the week on the exchanges driven by a stall in stock gains. Government bonds stayed firm due to British purchases while French and municipal issues weakened after France rejected Germany's reparations offer. Mortgage bonds tied to sugar oil and copper fell.
Six people died when a Southern Pacific passenger train hit their automobile one mile south of Selma Fresno county just after 7 PM. The auto carried three men and three women and was registered to DeMois Fancher of Fy Jain.

Greeley Colorado May 6 Walter Lee Bedien 21 of White Ash mine southeast of La Salle is dead from a chest wound and his uncle Christopher Columbus Bartlow 49 is jailed in Weld county following a family quarrel last night Bartlow says he shot in self defense after Bedien fired first The shooting happened at Homer Shahan's home on the Tom Foley farm 40 miles southeast of Kersey Bartlow was wounded in the forehead and arrested at 7 am after deputies trailed him from Shahan's to the Moore farm The inquest is set for tomorrow morning
Ten miners died in the Rocky Mountain Fuel explosion near Aguilar Colorado. Eight bodies were recovered by morning with others later found as crews worked through wreckage. No official cause or inquest date set while Williams survived with minor injuries.
