Roosevelt says supporters urge him to clarify his views on issues raised by Taft.
Reports from forty-one of forty-four South Carolina counties show Woodrow Wilson endorsed as the Democratic candidate for president in county conventions. Five counties instructed delegates to vote for him at the state convention, with Wilson close to thirty-eight votes and expected to gain forty-eight more from counties still aligned.

Relief rushed from Hattiesburg as rescuers aided wounded and the United Daughters of the Confederacy and other groups assisted.
Orders received by the Colorado and Southern Railway to seize all empty flat box and stock cars for Fort Russell to ship horses and equipment of the Ninth cavalry. Thirty five stock cars delivered. fifty more expected by morning. Fort scouts have been rounding up the men all day.
Judge for Astor will reveals Vincent Astor to inherit major share of Rhinebeck properties and Newport estate while Madeline Force Astor receives a life interest in a Fifth Avenue town house and art. A 5 million dollar trust and substantial incomes fund the widow, with explicit provisions to preserve the estate for Vincent and Ava Alice Muriel as named beneficiaries.
