House committee today to take up a fifteen billion appropriation measure for three million overseas army personnel as part of heightened defense funding discussions. The session centers on expanding overseas forces and related military support.
Washington May 4 Congress begins this week amid talk of opposition to the army increase plan. The $15,000,000,000 army appropriation bill for 2,090,000 troops will be redrafted for the house military committee. Leaders expect blanket power to reorganize federal agencies and swift passage in the House.

Alfred Glen Hall aged one, son of Mr and Mrs A J Mall of 1230 South Kalamath Street, Denver, who had been dubbed the most beautiful boy in Colorado, died after an auto driven by Charles Vrooman of Montezuma County struck him on the Denver Colorado Springs road near Serilla. He died shortly after at a Littleton hospital.

He was the son of James Quenenherry regent of the cultural college and is mourned by his parents. War department notified his family.
From the French front a May 4 AP dispatch describes a suspected German gas attack against American troops near Picardy. The fluid gas was contained in glass bottles and released by a spring mechanism. it produced fumes and coughing but no fatalities or injuries among U S soldiers. The attack reportedly did not involve detonation or infantry assault.
