In Scranton and Stranton PA May 5 labor leaders reported no strike after President Mitchell backed continuing the anthracite coal commission award for at least three years. Operators agreed to conference Monday to set term length and ensure no discrimination against suspended miners.

Former bank cashier sentenced to ten years at Leavenworth

Henry G Goll former cashier of the Piret National Bank was indicted for misapplying funds and sentenced to ten years at Fort Leavenworth. His former superior Frank G Bigelow pleaded guilty to defalcation last year and received the same sentence. Bigelow testified that many of Goll’s acts were directed by him though some actions were unknown to him.

Panama Carmen strike over taxi fares sparks unrest
