Mexico City reports indicate Venustiano Carranza and Pancho Villa governments face a cash crunch with both sides seeking funds. Huerta pledges a strong military response as the war continues with little optimism for a swift end.
Report from Mexico City says government pledges to discard defensive stance within a month and crush rebel groups within thirty days. Carranza forces and Zapata followers clash as Robles leads a harsh campaign in Morelos with widespread violence against opponents.
Dr David Starr Jordan of Stanford told the fourth American Peace congress in St Louis that outside money funds the Mexican revolt. Akron May 4 Three men were killed and a boy was seriously injured when they leaped from a trestle at Thompson's crossing two miles north of Akron to escape a train. The victims were Thomas Brown Akron William Sabin Litchfield Albert Schmidt Lima and Leo Brown 14 son of Thomas Brown. They died after falling 150 feet to the river bottom.
Three stores will open in Kansas City tomorrow by the Cooperating Trading Association. A truckload of Permuda onions from Mercedes Texas will be sold at three cents a pound in ten pound sacks. Membership open to anyone paying one dollar. The main store at Labor Temple.
Touko Takeishi, a Japanese aviator trained in the United States, died after his American-made biplane crashed while attempting to land near Tarkakashu during a Osaka to Kyoto flight. The Tokyo cablegram notes his death as Japan’s second fatal aviation accident in a month.

Wanessi Kellup is dying in St Pauls city hospital and Mike Strasenski is in critical condition after a wedding quarrel escalated to violence. In Port Au Prince on May 4 Michel Oreste was elected president by the Haytian congress to succeed General Tancrede Auguste who died Friday night. Rioting followed the funeral service with rifle fire in the cathedral area injuring many as troops restored order. Oreste won 75 votes as congress reassembled after a quorum shortage.
Denver May 4 Joseph E Bailey convicted of involuntary manslaughter for killing his brother in law Eugene H Smith on July 18 1916 with a mercy recommendation. He received three months in county jail in Batleys third trial and third conviction. Williams shot government inspector Harry Lacount in Chicago May 4 after jealousy dispute with his wife. Williams claimed self defense.
