Fifty one people died and about a hundred ten injured as a tornado devastated the small town of Avc in Cherokee County Oklahoma Sunday night. Relief workers battled mud and wreckage, locating bodies amid toppled buildings and widespread flooding as trains carried the injured to Muskogee and communications remained down.
Morning Journal reports swine plague found at the Arizona state prison farm with Dr. J. Dight stating all hogs were vaccinated and infection minimal. An outbreak in Gila valley prompted local action near Safford, while Dr. T. W. Crump was appointed to inspect interstate shipments and oversee livestock health.
Louis Salle, 18, of Ridgeport Conn., collapsed and died 42 seconds into a sparring session with 17 year old Anthony Vetartha known as Saxon at the Acorn Athletic Club. Medical examiner reports no external injuries. Vetartha, arrested on manslaughter charges in connection with the death.
The Senate passed a bill authorizing coinage of a Roosevelt two cent piece. The measure sets a new small denomination in the national coinage and reflects efforts to honor the former president.

Practically complete returns from the Maryland presidential primary show Major General Leonard Wood leading with 14,663 votes to 4,113 for Senator Hiram W. Johnson and a 7,559 majority for Wood. Wood carried all counties except Allesbury and Washington where Jo hneen held a 1,000 edge.
A man found unconscious in Robinson Park last night by Walter M. Connell was taken to the station for identification. A scrap of paper with the name Molee Targman, a few dollars, and a small kit were found on him. the hat was handed over by officers on the scene.

He cited suppression of Judge Robert Gary testimony in a five strike case as an example. The chamber also advanced bills to expand Idaho's Challis National Forest and Bitterroot additions, plus land sales to protect Pocatello water supply and adjustments to railroad land grants affecting former land grants.
