In Dublin on March 22 a riot began with about 300 soldiers parading the streets at 9 pm, shouting and smashing windows. Two men were shot dead and four seriously wounded as civilians clashed near Porto Bello bridge before troops returned to barracks. others were rough-handled by the crowd.
Secretary Baker told Senate agriculture committees that Mussel Shoals Alabama nitrate plant could yield about 2.9 million dollars annually if run by a government corporation with a 12.5 million dollar capitalization. Government estimates show evanamid and sulphate of ammonia costs and prices, with Chilean suppliers unable to compete under the plan.
Dr. W. Clothier, then with the University of Minnesota, elected by the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts regents to succeed Dr. A. D. Crile. Clothier, a Kansas State graduate, has ties to the University of Arizona, California, and Cornell. He will assume duties within thirty days.

Washington reports say Rear Admiral Sims told the senate committee that Rear Admiral Benson urged him not to let the British pull the wool over their eyes and that they would as soon fight the British as the Germans. Sims indicated the remark was informal and repeated at several times.
In Jefferson City Missouri March 22 counsel for the anti saloon league of Missouri filed a brief in the supreme court to prevent the November referendum on the constitutional prohibition amendment ratified by the Missouri legislature. The suit will be argued at the April term and seeks to stop Attorney General McAllister and Secretary of State Sullivan from submitting the question to voters.
In Phoenix March 22 a powerful Mexican convict named Pete Balinas, serving a burglary term, saved his foreman Shorty McDonald during a rock fall at a road gang site. Balinas leapt atop the foreman to shield him as another blast loomed, taking a rock to the head himself and leaving McDonald unconscious but safe.
Sheridan Wyoming March 22 Mrs Margaret Yiddict a recluse was found dead this afternoon in the hills three miles from here. It is believed she wandered away in the storm a week ago while in a demented condition. She was not missed until Saturday when search parties were organized and the country was combed until the body was found. Barbed wire had torn clothing from her body during the wandering.
