Texarkana Texas March 18 three bodies removed from wreckage of a mail train and a freight train that collided near the yards. No passengers aboard the trains and all the dead are believed to be train men. The engineer of the mail train is identified.
A Denver conference led by Governor Shoup discussed boosting instructors’ salaries in state institutions. School heads will prepare detailed budget requests for state budget commissioner C A Lemmers. President Charles A. Lory of Colorado State College of Agriculture warned of funding gaps and urged new revenue methods.
Washington March 18. Attorney General Palmer asked Congress for 2,500,000 dollars for the Bureau of Investigation 300,000 dollars for enforcement of Prohibition and 400,000 dollars for the employment of special attorneys.
David and John Goertzen of Henderson Nebraska are detained at Fort Omaha Nebraska as deserters. They allegedly obtained permission to visit Canada in 1918 before the draft and did not return until two weeks ago. They are members of a Mennonite colony.
