Wilmington March 11 Charged with soliciting political contributions from federal employees on or about April 1907 Ulysses M Glick statistical secretary of the National Drainage association and former manager of the Republican state headquarters was arrested He was held in four thousand dollars bail for a preliminary hearing March 18 The warrant was sworn by John D Doyle secretary of the civil service commission It is understood that Doyle heard testimony that Glick solicited two percent of federal salaries for political purposes paid quarterly
In a deadly fire that destroyed Biggs sanitarium in Greensboro, Frank Green of Goldstone died from burn injuries. Several others were seriously hurt, and four women leaped from second story windows escaping with minor injuries.
