Paz Carrillo, named as a murder suspect in the killing of Pete Milan, was arrested in Gallup after a long pursuit across several states. Authorities say Carrillo and a co defendant, listed as Game Arco Miner, face charges connected to the homicide of the Gallup merchant.
After a two month search across Colorado and Wyoming, Pat Carrillo was arrested in Albuquerque for the murder of Pete Milan, a Gallup merchant. Milan was struck on the head during a pay day robbery in Gamerco, and a cache of currency remained in his shirt. Carrillo, a coal miner from Gamero, offered no statement and will be taken to Gallup Sunday.
Col. C. A. Pennington and Mrs. Pennington host Dr. W F E Tisdale head of the National Research Council. Tisdale, backed by Rockefeller endowment, seeks promising foreign scholars for study in the United States and will tour European universities before sailing to England later in March.
Don F. Wiegs longtime service director of the Chamber of Commerce and editor of the Nile Grande Wormer cuts ties with both institutions this week. He will devote his future to managing the Southwestern Stockman Farmer, a periodical recently purchased by Mr. Bices and associates.
Pol a Negri said she will test her romance with Rudolph Valentino over four months before any marriage. She described him as the supreme man and rejected the word engagement as a business term. If wed they would not quit acting except possibly for children, planning Berlin work in May.
In Minneapolis on Saturday night a bomb was found behind the picture screen at the Wonderland theater and hurled from the building to an alley. About 260 people were inside as windows shattered and nearby buildings were damaged. It marks a second wreck attempt after a bomb was found four months earlier in the ticket office.
Zenaida Lianes former Tiajuana police chief Louis Amador saloon owner and Refugio Alvarez bartender were indicted on one count of outrage and violence against Clyde and Audrey Petech and their parents who died by self inflicted actions after alleged outrages in Mexico. They are held without bail in the Tiajuana cuartel awaiting trial by Judge Arias. Francisco Gonzales indicted for concealment of crime is free on bail and under surveillance in Tiajuana forbidden to leave the city.
Washington March 6 After a day of meetings in the house agriculture committee farm relief advocates and Des Moines conference members reached agreement that prospects improve for Congress to pass a satisfactory relief measure. Haugen of the farm represented states expressed cautious optimism after series of conferences with tariff considerations noted.
Paris declaration of Briand’s cabinet collapse unsettles the League of Nations era talks in Geneva. Briand plans to attend Monday discussions despite the political upheaval. China seeks a permanent council seat amid fears of Russian Bolshevik influence and possible withdrawal from the league.
The house irrigation committee, after a ten day interval, continued consideration of a bill to adjust water charges on western reclamation projects. A complaint filed by Velo Chageneyvich alleges two Swedes, both named John and Teddy, beat him to death with brass knuckles after he accused them of drinking. The incident occurred February 2% at the Hagan mines where all three worked. Chageneyvich, a Montenegrin-born naturalized citizen, says the assailants fled the country after the attack and had come from Chicago.

Washington March 6. The house debated prohibition enforcement with Assistant Secretary Andrews and Wayne B Wheeler urging a separate treasury prohibition bureau. Wheeler said fines from bootleggers cover costs while Blanton cited Baltimore saloons and criticized judges for not enforcing prohibition. Wheeler warned that even the best judges fail when one cent fines are imposed. Griffin attempts to revive the issue were blocked by Treadway who said propaganda for and against prohibition has been heard recently.
In Los Angeles on business, General Alvaro Obregon declined to comment on Adolfo de la Huerta’s New York forecast of revolution. His aides, including Arturo de Barachse the Mexico City mayor, called de la Huerta politically dead and suggested he would be the tactical choice to lead Mexico.
A westbound Santa Fe passenger train No. 9 collided with a vehicle at a highway grade crossing near Heehne, Cele, late Saturday. Frank Pinceoe died instantly. Joe, 14, suffered a fractured skull. others, including an elderly Buccelg, sustained injuries.
Four men are under arrest in Las Vegas New Mexico and two women are held under guard at a hotel on information from Denver police about a wholesale stock fraud that victimized scores of Denver residents. Lewis Bass Kenneth Joseph Royal Steinberger and A I Keint are jailed. Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Joseph were arrested but released pending Denver officers arrival.

Officials estimate 200000 to 300000 involved with possible federal charges of operating a confidence game. Police raided the Ken neth Lewis office in the Denham building after a six hour flight by suspects. A carded “sucker” list included Denver ministers doctors lawyers and businessmen.

A tariff rise on butter from 8 to 12 cents was ordered. House leaders pushed for farm relief and a prohibition bureau was considered.
The Elite Confectionery on North Main Street was sold this week to Mrs. G. W. Stewart of La Mesa. Former owner H. W. Boweman is undecided about his next move and may return to Deming where he previously worked in business.
