A sub-committee nears virtual agreement on the Quldier Bong plan. A proposed cash feature would be eliminated, potentially changing how ex-service members receive benefits including a proposed entitlement exceeding fifty dollars.
A Republican subcommittee tentatively agreed to drop the cash feature of the bonus bill for veterans and add a loan provision to the adjusted service certificate. Washington March 2 Dr Hubert Work first assistant postmaster general was nominated by President Harding and confirmed by the senate today to be postmaster general. Born in Marion Center Pennsylvania in 1885 he has since resided in Colorado where he has served in the medical corps during the war and is noted for wartime service.
Denver news note that Dr. Hubert Work of Pueblo is named postmaster general by President Harding making him the second Coloradan in a cabinet. He is the first physician to hold a cabinet post, with a career in medicine and hospital leadership alongside political activity since 1908.
Santa Fe March 2 The state tax commission has decided to use the five year average as the fairest method for taxing mines in 1921. The decision follows a conference with mine operators and the commission is still in session to determine final acceptance.
