Washington reports no direct news from the Mexican capital for ten days. The notice notes ongoing hostilities involving General Carranza and his followers in the southern republic, with no official updates from Mexico City.
In a day of sparse direct wire reports from Mexico City officials feared food shortages and military action as General Carranza massed troops. Trevino becomes commander in chief at the northeast with Tampico quiet and Tampico Panuco rail link reopened.
Jose Zuyama Zozaya wealthy Mexican resident of El Paso was arrested on charges of conspiring to support a military expedition against a friendly country in violation of U S neutrality. He posted 37500 bond for hearing before U S Commissioner George Oliver. Similar charges tied him to Victorino Huerta and Pascual Orozco. Authorities allege Zozaya bought five machine guns 500 rifles and ammunition. A warehouse stock of arms had been found weeks earlier.

Milan reported by Corriers Della Serrag of a Sardinian grenadier brigade charging an entrenched Austrian position northeast of Montala. The regiment formed a fixed bayonet assault halting the enemy as artillery forced a retreat, Manfredi losing a leg and dying of blood loss after being wounded in the engagement.
