A Chinese man, suspected of being Leon Ling and linked to the murder of Visio Rigel, was arrested in El Cajon this afternoon in this county.
The Maryland case near St Michaels closes after a coroner's jury finds Robert B Hastman either killed Edith May Woodill or acted as an accessory. San Francisco June 7 Superior Judge Snell dissolved an injunction blocking the water project known as the Hetelh Hetehy plan. The $660 000 bond authorization approved at the last election was freed for disposal by the city board of supervisors. Bids for the $240 000 ret allotment opened and awarded to James H W Adams Company of Los Angeles with a $2050 premium. The court upheld the citys principal contentions and dismissed the injunction.
Washington June 28 a joint resolution proposes an income tax amendment to the constitution. The measure reported to the senate by Mr Aldrich from the finance committee and ordered printed and laid on the table. The amendment states Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes from whatever source derived without apportionment among the states.
Senator Aldrich suggested quick passage of the amendment without debate but Senator Borah insisted he could not commit until the income tax provision was resolved. Aldrich ceased further efforts to move action.
The House adjourned at 12 35 p m today after adopting the conference report on the census bill. Washington June session closed until Thursday with no further actions scheduled.
In Spokane three special cars carried 85 women delegates to the National Equal Suffrage convention in Seattle. Local suffragists hosted receptions and rides with a banquet. The party includes Rey, Anna Shaw, Mrs. Rachel Foster Avery, Mrs. Ela H. Crossett, Miss Lary Anthony, Mrs. Harriet Taylor Upton, Mrs. Cornelia T. Jarrett, among others. Carrie Chapman Catt and Mrs. H. P. Belmont were not in the party.
