New York June 27 The Democratic National Convention readies for a final clash over nominees and platform. After four days of speeches delegates formally nominate the last sixteen candidates as debates over the Ku Klux Klan and league of nations intensify.

A blaze at the Santa Fe yard gutted the lumber shed and carpenter shop, destroying nine freight cars nearby. Loss is estimated around 26000 dollars. Several workers were injured, including a broken arm and minor burns, while city and Santa Fe fire crews battled the flames.

President Coolidge signed certificates recognizing Indian tribes for members who served in World War I. Standing Rock and Fort Berthold reservations will receive certificates at exercises in Mandan, North Dakota, on July 4, with W Irving Glover representing the President.

Harvey Fergusson, noted New Mexico author of The Blood of the Conquerors and Women and Wives, has filed for divorce from Sarah Vergue son, alleging abandonment. Mabry, attorney, represents Fergusson, a native of New Mexico and early pioneer family member, who has recent newspaper work in Washington and is reportedly writing a new book set in New Mexico.

A heavy hail and rain storm east of Levy New Mexico on Wednesday destroyed or badly damaged crops that were up and roofs while small animals and birds died. Replanting will be needed for destroyed crops though wheat oats and other undamaged crops may benefit from the rain and water supplies in prairie lakes will be replenished.
